Many of today’s new vehicles come equipped with modern, convenient technology like touchscreens, wi-fi and hands-free calling. Manufacturers work hard to make sure these features can be accessed without distracting drivers, but sometimes the temptation is still there to take hands off the wheel or eyes off the road.

The 2017 Lincoln Continental employs an enhanced head-up display, or HUD, to help combat this problem. Using the HUD, drivers can choose to display information that would normally be found on the dashboard directly on the Continental’s windshield.

While not the first vehicle to include this feature, the Continental promises the clearest, brightest HUD on the market, that can even be read clearly through sunglasses. Drivers will be able to display speed, driving directions, temperature and more via the HUD, allowing them to view vital information without compromising awareness and visibility. Of course, if it isn’t needed at the moment, the display can  be toggled off.

As new technology continues to develop and more and more features become standard in the auto world, it is important to remember that safety is incredibly important while driving. The 2017 Continental’s better, brighter HUD demonstrates Lincoln’s commitment to this fact.
